Liverpool will next face Manchester City who will give the champions a guard of honour at Etihad.

Liverpool became champions automatically as Manchester City lost 2-1 from Chelsea.

New Delhi : Thursday night as Liverpool's long wait of 30 years for the English Premier League title came to an end. While it looked like Jurgen Klopp's men would have to wait for another match to lift their first league title in the Premier League era, Chelsea defeated a 10-man Manchester City to reduce that waiting period for the Reds.

Goals from Christian Pulisic and Willian sealed a 2-1 victory for Frank Lampard's men while Kevin De Bruyne's sole strike didn't prove enough for the Cityzens. The game looked even for the most part of the match until Fernandinho was sent off for a handball inside the penalty box. Willian then stepped up to put the ball past Ederson, not just to take Chelsea in the lead but also hand Liverpool the much-awaited Premier League title.

The victory helped Chelsea strengthen their case for a Champions League spot next season and while many Blues fans all across the globe were happy with the result, the ones happier were Liverpool players and supporters who finally managed to realise their elusive dream.

Jurgen Klopp's moment

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hailed the moment as 'incredible' as he paid tribute to club legends Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard on this historic occasion.

"I have no words. It is unbelievable, much more than I thought was possible. Becoming champions with this club is absolutely incredible. This is for Kenny, for Stevie – everyone!

It was quite an emotional moment for him and his team as the Reds finally got their hands on EPL after 30 years.

"There’s a sense of relief because after the 3 months of interruption no one knew how the season would come back. This is for all of the fans. I hope they celebrate it, it’s all in our hearts and our heads, we do it all together and it’s a joy to do this for the fans."

Apart from this celebration tonight, we do nothing. We go to the training ground and then go home, that is all we do. The boys have time together tonight. It’s difficult out there still for a lot of people but tonight we couldn’t hold back, we had to come together.

"The Manchester City game was really tense, I didn’t want to be involved. It was intense but it is an incredible from my players. What they have done over the last few years in exceptional and it’s a pure joy for me to coach them.

“It’s very important to celebrate because these moments are unforgettable. We have pictures from the season and now we have pictures of the celebrations and we will create pictures in the future with the parade with our supporters. Tonight we have made the best of our situation.”
